I’ve started creative work on my first complete music project in over thirty years.
The Study of Starlight will be a collection of instrumental/ambient/smooth jazz tracks and covers inspired by the things that inspire me—faith, trust, and perhaps a little “pixie dust” from being a lifelong “Disney adult”. I plan on reworking one or two of the 1990s tracks (previously published as part of the “Red” and “White” projects) with new instrumentation and arrangements, and maybe a cover or two, but it will otherwise be all-new material. More info to follow as this project takes shape.
The goal is to have this ready to publish on digital platforms by the Fall or Winter of 2026 (in time for gift-giving season? Maybe…).
I now have an AI-based Apple Shortcut workflow for doing location check-ins that works with the Google Places API rather than Foursquare. I still have to pay for it, but it’s at the level of cents versus dollars. You can now see the block here under “Current Status”.
Location updates are currently NOT live as I changed back to a local Apache CouchDB database from Google BigQuery. The “Last checked in” and “Focus” statuses below are updated as they occur.
